2 projects worth more than 10,110 billion VND to transmit electricity from the Central region to the North

Information from the Government Office said that on February 1, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 1507/QD-TTg and Decision No. 1508/QD-TTg on approving the policy and investors of two 500 kV power transmission line projects Quang Trach - Quynh Luu and Quynh Luu - Thanh Hoa.

There will be two more power transmission projects from the Central region to the North to help ensure power supply for the North during the peak hot season.

According to the above decisions, EVNNPT was assigned as the investor of these two projects. These are component projects of the 500 kV line project, circuit 3 from Quang Trach to Pho Noi, with a total investment capital of over VND 10,110 billion.

Specifically, the 500 kV Quang Trach - Quynh Luu transmission line project has a length of about 225.5 km with the starting point being the 500 kV distribution yard of Quang Trach Power Center ( Quang Binh ) and the end point being location D1 located about 300 m from the 500 kV Quynh Luu Substation (Nghe An). This project passes through the territory of 3 provinces of Quang Binh, Ha Tinh, and Nghe An.

The 500 kV Quynh Luu - Thanh Hoa transmission line project is about 91.8 km long with the starting point at D2, about 300 m from the 500 kV Quynh Luu substation, and the ending point at the 500 kV Thanh Hoa substation. The project passes through two provinces : Nghe An and Thanh Hoa.

According to the decisions, these two projects will be implemented in 40 months, from 2023 to 2025. However, EVNNPT aims to complete them in June 2024.

According to Vietnam Electricity Group, these two power transmission projects are being implemented to increase the transmission capacity of existing 500 kV lines to ensure power supply for the North, especially when the transmission capacity trend is high in the Central - North direction due to the high growth rate of load in the North.

In addition, these projects will contribute to reducing the load on existing 500 kV lines, ensuring the N-1 criteria, especially when hydropower plants in the North generate low power; increasing the stable reserve level on the North - Central interface. When combined with the remaining component projects of the 500 kV line project, circuit 3 from Quang Trach to Pho Noi, these two projects contribute to creating a strong connection from the center of North Central power sources to the load center of the Northern region.

In addition, the two power transmission projects are an important basis for safe, reliable, stable and optimal operation of the power system, contributing to reducing the cost of operating the power system; transmitting the capacity of thermal power plants in the North Central region as well as renewable energy plants in the North Central region to the national power system, supplying electricity to the load center in the Northern region.
