3 students in Nghe An were swept away by water while crossing a spillway, 1 student is missing.

This evening (September 21), Mr. Nguyen Van Ky, Chairman of Lam Son Commune People's Committee (Do Luong District, Nghe An ) said that the authorities are trying to search for a student who was swept away by floodwaters.

At around 3:00 p.m. the same day, Nguyen Thi Phuong T. (8th grade student, resident of Ngoc Son commune) and two friends were riding their bicycles across the spillway in Hamlet 2, Lam Son commune. Due to heavy rains in the past few days, the spillway was flooded.

During the journey, 3 children were swept away by the current. Two friends were fortunately rescued by local people, but T. went missing.

"At nearly 7 p.m. the same day, police, military , and local government forces were still trying to find T," Mr. Ky added.

Previously, at 4:00 p.m. on September 20, Ms. Pham TT (born in 1986, residing in Tuong Son commune, Anh Son district) rode an electric bicycle carrying her two children across Khe Coc overflow bridge in Hoa Son commune.

Due to the flood water rising rapidly, the mother and her three children were suddenly swept away by the current. The two children managed to cling to a bamboo bush and were promptly rescued by people, while the mother and her electric bike are missing.

By the evening of the same day, the authorities found Ms. T's body.
