The Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City (HCMC) announced the continuation of conducting entrance examinations for 6th grade admission for the 2025-2026 school year at 3 secondary schools: Tran Quoc Toan 1, Hoa Lu and Binh Tho.

Accordingly, in the upcoming 2025-2026 school year, the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City will continue to organize entrance exams for grade 6 for 3 secondary schools: Tran Quoc Toan 1, Hoa Lu, and Binh Tho.
Survey content
Specifically, the selection process is carried out by reviewing application documents and conducting a test to assess students’ abilities. Each school will organize a 6th grade test site (depending on the number of students registered).
Candidates are all students who have completed primary school and wish to enter grade 6 in Thu Duc City, with an average final score of 9.0 or higher in math and Vietnamese.
Schools organize the survey on the same day and on the same questions. Students taking the survey at which school will contact and submit their application at that school and can only register and submit their application at one secondary school.
Each student can only register for the entrance exam at one school (no other wishes), the exam results of that school will not be used for admission to the other two schools.
Candidates are expected to take the aptitude test in mid-June 2025 for 90 minutes. The test consists of 2 parts:
- Multiple choice test of 20 questions in English on understanding of natural sciences , social sciences and common sense.
- The essay section includes a survey of English proficiency (reading and writing in English), mathematical and logical thinking proficiency in Vietnamese, and reading and writing proficiency in Vietnamese.
Admission quota
- Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School recruits 9 6th grade classes (of which at least 5 are integrated English classes, the rest are enhanced English classes) with 315 students.
- Hoa Lu Secondary School recruits 7 6th grade classes (of which at least 3 are integrated English classes, the rest are enhanced English classes) with 245 students.
- Binh Tho Secondary School recruits 8 6th grade classes (of which at least 3 are integrated English classes, the rest are enhanced English classes) with 280 students.
Admitted students are those who complete the 6th grade entrance exam completely and correctly, and do not have any score of 0. The admission score is the total score of all parts of the 6th grade entrance exam.
Based on the survey results, the 6th grade admissions board at the 3 secondary schools Tran Quoc Toan 1, Hoa Lu and Binh Tho will consider from high to low until the quota is met and according to criteria suitable to each school's model.
