AFD accompanies Hanoi in developing sustainable transport

On the afternoon of September 20, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan received the delegation of the Director and Head of the Traffic Department of the French Development Agency (AFD) Headquarters led by Mr. Cyrille Bellier, Director of the Asia - Middle East - Europe Department, who visited and worked in Vietnam.

Head of the Asia - Middle East - Europe Department of AFD Headquarters Cyrille Bellier shared the losses of Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular after storm No. 3, and highly appreciated the city's efforts in overcoming the consequences of the storm.

Regarding cooperation with Hanoi, Mr. Cyrille Bellier shared that the AFD delegation had experienced the Nhon - Cau Giay elevated railway section that had just been put into commercial operation, and highly appreciated the quality of the project.

Expressing his delight at AFD’s contribution to the project, Mr. Cyrille Bellier emphasized that the project is a meaningful symbol of the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and France. At the same time, he affirmed that in the coming time, this agency will continue to support and share experiences with Hanoi in many fields, including sustainable transport infrastructure development.

Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan said that in recent years, Hanoi has always maintained good relations with many localities of France, especially the Ile-de-France region.

Thanking AFD for its support for the Hanoi urban railway project, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan shared about the implementation plan of upcoming items.

Accordingly, in the near future, urban railway line No. 3 will be extended, continuing to go underground under Tran Hung Dao Street to Hoang Mai. Currently, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has proposed the Government to approve proposals related to the implementation of this line.

Besides, Hanoi City is also urgently researching and reviewing difficulties and problems and developing specific and timely solutions to ensure the project is implemented according to the set goals and schedule.

Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan added that Hanoi has established an expert team to support the repair work of the "Long Bien Bridge Research and Renovation Support Project", in coordination with the French Embassy to research and propose technical solutions for the restoration of Long Bien Bridge. He hopes that AFD will continue to support and share experiences with Hanoi in this project.
