Workers of Phong Dien Power Management Team clear trees in the power grid safety corridor.
According to Can Tho City Electricity Company, during the rainy and stormy season, phenomena such as heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms can easily lead to incidents that affect the safety of the power grid system. And to ensure the requirement of stable power supply for customers, Can Tho City Electricity Company has been implementing plans to ensure the safety of the power grid during the rainy and stormy season; at the same time, directing its affiliated power units to strengthen the inspection of the power grid system and transformer stations before the rainy and stormy season.
Accordingly, local power management teams have reinforced the foundations of power poles in areas at risk of landslides; at the same time, promptly replaced old equipment with new equipment capable of remote monitoring and control, to promptly detect and handle incidents on the power grid; inspected and upgraded electrical cabinets or power stations at risk of flooding when heavy rains and storms occur, especially in markets, parks, residential areas, etc. to ensure safety for the community. Power management teams also coordinated with local authorities and tree management units to cut, trim, and trim branches of trees located close to the power grid and at risk of falling onto the power grid when there are storms, tornadoes, etc. to minimize damage to the power system when natural disasters and storms occur.
Along with the work of checking and promptly handling abnormal phenomena on 110kV lines and 110kV transformer stations before and during the rainy and stormy season, local power management teams also organize on-duty operations and incident handling; fully prepare means and materials to respond to all natural disasters and incidents. Proactively work with relevant units to be ready to deploy coordination plans, promptly handle emergency situations, quickly overcome incidents, and soon restore power to serve the production and business needs and daily life of city residents.
According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Luc, Head of Safety Department, Can Tho City Electricity Company, to minimize incidents causing grid insecurity as well as prevent electrical accidents from occurring during the rainy and stormy season, the Company has implemented a plan for natural disaster prevention and control and search and rescue (PCTT&TKCN); at the same time, directing local electricity management teams to strengthen inspections, prepare plans for flood, storm, and flood prevention and control and report related contents to the Company's PCTT&TKCN Command Committee. At the same time, units prepare shock forces ready to perform tasks when mobilized; organize 24/24-hour on-duty assignments, and report related contents to the Company.
In addition to technical measures, Can Tho City Electricity Company has been promoting propaganda work, advising people to use electricity safely during the rainy season, such as paying attention to turning off power sources and circuit breakers when the house is flooded or the rain wets electrical equipment, to minimize the risk of short circuits and electrical accidents; paying attention to arranging and installing power lines, electrical outlets, and electrical equipment in the house higher than the water level that is often flooded; installing devices and circuit breakers with the function of automatically turning on and off the power source when an incident or electrical leakage occurs; paying attention to turning off all power sources to electrical equipment installed outdoors, such as signs and billboards when there is heavy rain, strong winds, tornadoes, etc.
The electricity sector has also stepped up propaganda work to protect the safety of high-voltage power grid works, instructing people to strictly comply with preventive measures to avoid violations of high-voltage power grid safety corridors... on the electricity sector's electronic information pages, Zalo, and Facebook. Accordingly, people are advised not to arbitrarily dismantle or repair structures of power works; not to cross the fences of power stations, touch the power poles' wires; not to stand under power poles when it rains heavily or thunders; not to arbitrarily cut down or trim trees near power lines; not to carry or install trees or metal poles near power lines; quickly notify the electricity sector as well as local authorities when detecting phenomena that cause electrical safety hazards.
When there is an electrical problem due to the impact of storms, people should contact local electricity management teams or immediately call the customer care center of Southern Power Corporation via 2 numbers: 19001006 - 19009000 for timely support.
