India sends Vietnam $1 million worth of goods to support flood victims

VOV.VN - On the night of September 15, at Noi Bai Airport ( Hanoi ), the Government of India handed over a humanitarian aid shipment worth 1 million USD (nearly 26 billion VND) to the Government of Vietnam. This is an activity within the framework of Operation Sadbhav (Goodwill), to support communities in some northern provinces of Vietnam affected by Typhoon Yagi.
The 35-ton relief consignment includes essential items such as water purifiers, blankets, mosquito nets, kitchen utensils, water tanks, buckets with taps and solar lamps based on the needs of affected communities and recommendations from relevant authorities.
The Indian Government 's aid shipment arrived at Noi Bai airport on the night of September 15. Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya handed over the relief goods to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, who in turn handed them over to the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control of the Ministry and representatives of Tuyen Quang province. On this occasion, the Ambassador recalled the deep sympathy of the Indian community for those affected by Cyclone Yagi, including the support and contributions of businesses and members of the Indian community in Vietnam at various levels to the affected people and the Vietnamese authorities.
Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya personally handed over the aid shipment to representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam.
Earlier, on behalf of the Government and people of India, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent condolences and expressed solidarity to Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar also sent condolences to Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son on the losses and damage caused by the storm.
The Government of India affirmed that the humanitarian assistance to Vietnam is a testament to the strong and long-standing relationship between the two countries, marked by the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Operation Sadbhav (Goodwill) is part of India’s larger effort to contribute to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief in the ASEAN region, in line with India’s long-standing “Act East Policy”.
