According to the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs , civil servants and public employees will have Lunar New Year holidays from Saturday, February 14, 2026 (December 27, year of the Snake) to Sunday, February 22, 2026 (January 6, year of the Horse).
Thus, the Binh Ngo Tet holiday lasts 9 consecutive days, including 5 Tet holidays according to the Labor Code, and 4 weekend days.
On National Day 2026, civil servants and public employees will have a day off from Saturday, August 29, 2026 to Wednesday, September 2, 2026. The total holiday will be 5 days, including 2 statutory holidays, 2 weekend days, and 1 day swapped from the specific working schedule of Monday, August 31, to Saturday, August 22.
The swap helps create a seamless vacation, avoiding work interruptions, while meeting people's travel and rest needs.
For employees in enterprises, the Ministry of Home Affairs recommends that based on actual conditions, businesses can arrange appropriate holidays. Specifically, for the Year of the Fire Horse, businesses can choose the last day of the year of the Fire Snake and the first four days of the year of the Fire Horse, or the last two days of the year of the Fire Snake and the first three days of the year of the Fire Horse, or the last three days of the year of the Fire Snake and the first two days of the year of the Fire Horse.
On the occasion of National Day, the employer decides to give employees September 2nd and 1 additional day off before or after. The enterprise must notify the plan of the holiday at least 30 days before implementation.
If the holiday coincides with a weekly day off, a compensatory day off will be arranged on the next working day according to regulations. The Ministry also encourages businesses to apply a similar holiday schedule to the public sector or have a more favorable agreement for employees.
Based on the consensus of the ministries, the Ministry of Home Affairs has requested the Prime Minister to consider the decision to promptly notify agencies, units and businesses.
