According to India Today , the K-4 submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) uses solid fuel and has a target range of 3,500 km.
Despite numerous media reports, the Ministry of Defence , Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) or the Indian Navy have so far not made any official statement on the matter.
However, India has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) and public warning of a medium-range missile test over the 3,490 km flight corridor from November 27-30.
According to news agency ANI , the results of the test are being analyzed by defense officials.
In the past few years, the K-4 has been tested only from submerged buoys. This is the first time India has tested the K-4 missile from INS Arighaat, which was commissioned into the Indian Navy in August.
The 6,000-ton INS Arighaat is India's third and newest nuclear-powered submarine, displacing 7,000 tons, and is likely to be commissioned next year.
Last month, India's Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) approved the construction of two more nuclear-powered attack submarines to boost New Delhi's presence in the Indo- Pacific .
