According to NDTV , the joint exercise was conducted in two phases - the onshore phase from September 15-20 and the sea phase from September 20-25 in the East Sea. More than 40 naval forces participated in the exercise.
In phase 2, on September 23, India's DSRV Tiger X submarine made its first dive outside the Indian Ocean region and conducted a comprehensive rescue exercise in the East Sea.
During this dive, the DSRV Tiger X successfully docked with the South Korean submarine Shin Dol-Seok (S-082). It then successfully docked with the Singaporean submarine RSS Invincible, completing two successful dockings.
India currently operates two DSRVs purchased from British company James Fisher Defence (JFD Global) in 2016 under a contract worth £193 million (over $260 million).
The DSRV operates on India’s first diving support vessel, INS Nistar, which was commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 18. With a displacement of over 10,000 tonnes and a length of 118 metres, the vessel was built by India to serve rescue operations at depths of up to 300 metres below the surface.
The Indian Navy chief, Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, said that the INS Nistar is not just a technical platform but also a significant step towards enhancing the operational capabilities of the force. With the commissioning of the ship, India has emerged as a “submarine rescue partner” in the region.
