Ms. Mai Nguyen Tuyet Hoa, Head of the Department of Educational Cooperation and Overseas Student Management of the Embassy of Vietnam in Russia, said that this activity has a very special meaning because it is aimed at children - the future buds who will build and strengthen the sustainable friendship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation. This is also the activity that opens the first journey of discovery in the series of programs "Discovering Countries" organized by the Library to introduce children to the cultures of countries around the world. Deputy Director of the National Children's Library of the Russian Federation Angela Lebedeva emphasized that the reason the Organizing Committee chose Vietnam as the first country in the "Discovering Countries" program series is because of the special significance of 2025 as the occasion to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day. "The resounding success of the Vietnamese Cultural Festival in Red Square last July really breathed new life into the country, arousing the curiosity and love of Russian people, especially young people, for Vietnamese culture. We want to continue that emotional flow and bring a deeper experience, especially for future generations," said Angela Lebedeva. The program opened with a traditional Vietnamese lion dance. A large, brightly colored lion performed many interesting acts: dancing in circles, standing on its hind legs, blinking, scratching behind its ears, and even falling asleep at one point... but immediately waking up when a handkerchief fell in front of it, and happily devouring it. All the lion's movements were accompanied by the sound of bass drums and cymbals.
After the lion dance, the children were introduced to a short program about Vietnam by representatives of the Vietnam Cultural Club of the HSE University of Economics . Children learn about symbols, nature, national cuisine and traditional Vietnamese costumes. Children got to see dances, graceful Vietnamese girls in ao dai and participate in quiz games to receive prizes. Throughout the event, exciting and spectacular activities are interspersed with educational ones.
Young audiences enjoyed the Vietnamese martial arts show "Vovinam" and performances by Vietnamese students studying in the Russian Federation and Russian students who love Vietnam. Through games, dances, and stories, the Organizing Committee hopes to sow in the hearts of children the first seeds of understanding and love for Vietnamese culture. The event attracted many Russian children and parents to experience and learn about the beautiful country of Vietnam. The "little artists" enthusiastically painted conical hats and hand-printed colorful Dong Ho paintings.
“Vietnam Cultural Day” ended in joy and unforgettable impressions, opening a favorable start for the series of programs “Discovering Countries” and contributing to writing another beautiful chapter in the cultural exchange journey between the two nations.
