In a video announcing the contest, Melania Trump said: “As someone who created an audiobook using AI technology and advocated for online safety through the Take It Down Act, I have seen firsthand the powerful potential of this technology. Now, I want to pass the torch of innovation to the next generation.”

Students across the US are invited to apply, either individually or in teams, to create a project that uses AI technology or methods to address a specific community challenge – from the environment, transportation, education , to healthcare or social security.

The goal of the competition is to inspire the spirit of collaboration and creativity among young people, as AI will be the “language” of the future that they need to master, said Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology.

“We want young Americans to have access to, experiment with, and innovate with AI tools — now,” he said on Fox News’ Fox and Friends program.

The competition is open for registration from the launch date and the submission deadline is the end of December.
Each team must have an adult or teacher sponsor. Regional competitions will take place next spring, and national winners will be invited to the White House to present their projects.

The initiative was launched under an executive order signed by President Donald Trump, with the aim of promoting artificial intelligence education for American youth.
