Arrest of subjects illegally transporting explosives in the maritime border area

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Thanh Hoa Province Border Guard has just coordinated to successfully fight a special case, arresting 1 subject, promptly preventing the illegal transportation of explosives in the sea border area.

Implementing the Plan to combat violations of the law and regulations on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, on June 27, in Ha Tay 1 village, Hai Ha commune, Nghi Son town ( Thanh Hoa ), the drug and crime prevention and control task force of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Border Guard coordinated with relevant units to catch Mai Van Ky (born in 1986, residing in Ha Dong village, Hai Ha commune, Nghi Son town) in the act of illegally transporting explosives.

At the scene, authorities seized 10kg of explosives and 25 detonators.

Initially, Mai Van Ky confessed that he bought the explosives from a man (name, age, address unknown), transported them to his fishing boat, and hid them for use in the process of exploiting seafood at sea.

Currently, the professional department of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Border Guard is coordinating with the Nghi Son Port Border Guard Command and functional forces to temporarily detain violators and exhibits, conduct appraisals as a basis for prosecution, investigation and handling according to the provisions of law.
