Arrested a group producing fake drinking water of famous brands in Ho Chi Minh City

On October 7, the Economic Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police, announced that it had decided to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and execute the temporary detention order against Truong Van My (born in 1986, residing in Dak Lak province) and Duong Duc Tai (born in 1988, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) to investigate the act of "Producing and trading in counterfeit food products".

Previously, with sharp professional measures, at 2:30 p.m. on October 1, 2025, detectives from the Economic Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police suddenly raided and caught Truong Van My and Duong Duc Tai red-handed in the act of producing and trading bottled drinking water (18.5l - 20l) counterfeiting reputable brands on the market.

At the investigation agency, the subjects bowed their heads and confessed to all their violations. Their method was to purchase genuine water bottles from major brands, then use tap water or cheap, unknown-origin drinking water to fill them.

To create a sophisticated cover, the subjects used social networks to order shrink wrap and fake labels that looked exactly like the real product to stick on the bottles. Each fake water bottle after being "refurbished" was sold on the market for 38,000 - 40,000 VND, mainly consumed at grocery stores.

The Economic Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police Department recommends that consumers need to be more vigilant, not to use bottled water products of unknown origin, which pose many potential risks to health. When detecting suspicious signs of counterfeit goods or unusual signs of production and business establishments, people need to quickly notify and denounce to the nearest police agency for timely handling measures, contributing to protecting the safety of the community.
