Jade Buddha statue in ancient temple

Việt NamViệt Nam16/06/2023

Tung Van Pagoda was built during the Later Le Dynasty more than 300 years ago and was recognized as a National Cultural Monument in 1964. After many restorations, the pagoda still retains the ancient architecture of the Northern region. Tung Van Pagoda still preserves many treasures such as a bronze bell, a bronze gong and some statues made of terracotta. The most special of which is the clay statue of Buddha Shakyamuni dating back several centuries.

In 2010, during the restoration process, the Pagoda cast a jade Buddha statue from natural gemstone, modeled after the terracotta statue of Shakyamuni.
