The 1.9 billion view song “APT.” won Song of the Year at the 2025 VMAs

(Dan Tri) - Rosé (member of Blackpink) and male singer Bruno Mars just won the Song of the Year category at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) with the hit song "APT."

The 2025 VMAs awards ceremony took place in New York (USA) in the early morning of September 8 (Vietnam time). Among them, the song APT. by Rosé and Bruno Mars excelled over many strong competitors to win the prestigious award for Song of the Year.

Bruno Mars was absent from the event. Rosé represented him, accepted the award and gave a touching speech on stage.

Appearing at the awards ceremony, Rosé expressed great happiness and confessed that Bruno Mars is not only an idol but also a respected teacher to her.

She sent her gratitude to Bruno Mars, Blackpink members, support team and fans who helped her have the motivation to pursue her passion and not give up.

In her acceptance speech, Rosé mentioned herself. She emphasized that today's victory and the journey to conquer the global audience helped her overcome her own fears at the age of 16.

“I want to give this award to Rosé, who was full of dreams when she was 16 years old. I also want to give this award to the people who have watched me grow as an artist and put their dreams in me. It was you guys who helped me get here today,” she said.

The 9X generation singer also mentioned her therapist in her acceptance speech. "Just like my therapist used to tell me every day, I should thank myself for not giving up during the most difficult times in my life. APT. 's win at the 2025 VMAs means a lot to Rosé personally. She became the first K-pop artist to win Song of the Year at a VMAs.

The victory of the Blackpink member also continues to affirm the influence of Korean youth music on global audiences.

APT. - (short for Apartment) was composed by Bruno Mars and Rosé. The unique, vibrant melody and the perfect combination between Rosé and Bruno made the song a success.

APT. marked Rosé's transition from YG Entertainment to pursue her own singing career. Since its release, the song has dominated music charts worldwide, including reaching number 1 on the Billboard 200 global chart.
