Western communes deeply flooded after storm No. 10

Heavy rains caused by storm No. 10 have caused great damage in the communes of Muong Xen, Con Cuong, and Quy Hop, Nghe An province.

* In Muong Xen commune, according to initial statistics, 15 households suffered from landslides. Local authorities urgently evacuated the assets of 69 households with 365 people to ensure safety of life and property. The affected households are mainly concentrated in the villages: Nhan Cu, Binh Son, Ban Canh...

Heavy rain also caused serious landslides on Highway 543D and Tay Son Road, many sections were severely damaged, causing traffic congestion and potential safety risks.

Currently, local authorities and functional forces are urgently mobilizing human resources and means to initially overcome the situation, evacuate people from dangerous areas, continue to count the damage, and deploy timely support measures.

* In Con Cuong commune , as of 3:00 p.m. on September 29, 28/36 villages were flooded from 0.5m to 1.5m, about 1,650 households were flooded. Among them were 3 village cultural houses. 7 spillways were flooded, leading to the complete isolation of 10 villages including: Thanh Nam, Thanh Dao, Khe Ran, Tan Hoa, Lien Tra, Pha village, Trung Chinh, Trung Thanh, Lam Khe, Bai Oi; 28 houses had their roofs blown off or collapsed, 15 households in Vinh Hoan village were at risk of landslides.

Rising floodwaters have inundated some key sections of National Highway 7A, cutting off Eo Vuc Bong and Khe Dun Bridge by about 0.5-1m. Strong winds have knocked down about 350 trees, blocking roads and hamlets, including damaging two cars. Currently, the "4 on-site" forces in the localities are mobilizing forces to clear roads for people to travel safely; evacuating people in deeply flooded areas to safety.

*In Quy Hop commune, as of 3:00 p.m. on September 29, all bridges and spillways were flooded and impassable. Heavy rains caused more than 180 houses to be flooded, of which nearly 100 houses were flooded from 2.5 to 3 meters; over 550 hectares of crops were buried, and over 320 hectares of sugarcane were affected.

On September 29, in Yen Luom, Khanh Quang, Son Tien hamlets... the police and military forces had to mobilize boats, vehicles and human resources to promptly and successfully rescue 84 households with over 250 people trapped on the roofs due to the sudden flood. Before that, the commune mobilized more than 120 police officers, military officers, and the commune mobile platoon to evacuate all 69 households of 5 hamlets at risk of flooding and landslides to a safe place.

Currently, Quy Hop commune continues to maintain on-duty forces, strengthen inspection, count damages, coordinate with other sectors to promptly overcome consequences, ensure the safety of people's lives and property...
