Border guards strengthen the construction of border communes

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - In recent times, the border guards have been reinforced in the communes, making an important contribution to consolidating the political base, participating in economic development, poverty reduction, and new rural construction, while actively mobilizing the entire population to participate in protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security, together with local Party committees, authorities and people to contribute to building increasingly prosperous border areas.

In July 2024, Lieutenant Colonel Le Huu Nghi, Pu Nhi Border Guard Station, was promoted to the position of Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhi Son Commune. As soon as he took on the new assignment, together with the Party Committee of Nhi Son Commune, Lieutenant Colonel Le Huu Nghi encouraged the people to develop production models and mobilize resources to carry out new rural construction projects. He actively promoted people to participate in economic development and introduced a number of economic models for the people to implement. According to the assessment of the Party Committee and the government, Comrade Nghi is a dynamic cadre with innovation in thinking and working methods, contributing to bringing Nhi Son Commune from a low starting point to now being one of the key communes in new rural construction.

Sharing about his work in the locality, Lieutenant Colonel Le Huu Nghi said: "In my position as Deputy Secretary of the Commune Party Committee and a border guard officer, I am always aware of my responsibility in maintaining the trust of the people, acting as a bridge between the Party Committee, the government, the people and the border guards. Promoting the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, I myself am determined to make more efforts to work with the Party Committee, the government and the people to realize policies and guidelines, with the ultimate goal of serving the people better, so that people's lives are increasingly improved and the poverty rate is increasingly reduced."

Among the 21 communes that did not implement the arrangement, Tam Chung is a particularly difficult border commune of Muong Lat district (old), with an area of ​​nearly 66km2, a population of 4,527 people, more than 90% of whom are Mong people, many villages are far from the commune center, and roads are difficult to travel. Continuing to implement the policy of arranging border guards as deputy party secretaries, and at the same time studying the arrangement of border guards as chairmen of the People's Committees of border communes, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Provincial Border Guard Command conducted a survey, selected personnel, areas and local titles that are in need of increasing Border Guard officers. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Dung of the Provincial Border Guard Command was appointed to hold the position of Deputy Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee of Tam Chung commune. To complete the assigned tasks, as soon as he received the task, he persistently stayed close to the people and villages, proactively sought new ways and production models to develop the socio-economy for the people in the border area. Along with replicating and developing production support models for people, he has focused on promoting propaganda work, changing people's production habits, arousing their awareness of proactively rising out of poverty, overcoming the mentality of waiting and relying, thereby contributing to the goal of rapid and sustainable poverty reduction. Many models have developed well, bringing high economic efficiency and the ability to replicate, such as: the model of developing native breeding cattle; the model of raising semi-free-range chickens; the model of transferring and applying safe vegetable production techniques...

At Pu Nhi Border Guard Station, Lieutenant Colonel Lau Van Lau was appointed as an officer to strengthen the economic development of Pu Nhi commune. He coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to deploy a clean vegetable garden model in Pu Toong and Com villages. At the same time, he guided people to develop a system of gardens, ponds, and barns, especially to raise livestock in a continuous system, combined with growing vegetables, with a diverse crop structure, rich in species, and focusing on intercropping. In order to raise awareness of the law for people in the border area, Lieutenant Colonel Lau Van Lau participated in propagating the implementation of cultural lifestyles in ethnic minority areas; the fight against drugs; a number of issues related to national defense and security; combating child marriage; preventing human trafficking...

Currently, in the province, there are 10 border guards assigned to hold positions in 7 border communes of Muong Lat district (old). In addition, the border guards also assigned 34 party members to participate in activities at border village party cells and over 200 party members in charge of households under Program 681. They always play an important role as a bridge between the Party, the government and the people in the border area, building a strong local political base; actively participating in socio-economic development, consolidating national defense and security, firmly protecting the national border sovereignty; performing well the work of advising people's foreign affairs in conjunction with border foreign affairs, building a peaceful and friendly border.
