Phu Huu Market, Long Truong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, started construction in 2004 with a budget of 1.2 billion VND. This project is located on a land area of over 2,000m², designed with a scale of 164 stalls and kiosks.

The initial goal is to create a spacious and civilized shopping space, contributing to gradually replacing spontaneous markets, especially solving the problem of encroachment on the sidewalk on Nguyen Duy Trinh street.

The stalls were littered with rubbish, the area inside the market became gloomy.

After more than 20 years, Phu Huu market, Long Truong ward, Ho Chi Minh City is now just an abandoned building with a scene of devastation.

In the market area, many kiosks are closed and have no business activities.

Currently the inside of the market is abandoned.

The corrugated iron roof in many areas is rusty, the walls are peeling, and the infrastructure is seriously degraded due to the market being abandoned for a long time.

This billion-dollar project was built with the hope of becoming a bustling commercial center of the area. However, after many years, this market is still not used effectively, causing waste.

Not only Phu Huu market, Tan Phu market, Long Truong ward, Ho Chi Minh City located not far away has also been abandoned for decades, making the landscape of this area desolate.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, one of the main reasons leading to the ineffective operation and even abandonment of many traditional markets in the area is the strong development of modern commerce (supermarkets, convenience stores, shopping malls) and e-commerce.
