On January 29, Mr. Vu Manh Hung, owner of the illegally built 12-storey hotel in Cua Lap hamlet (Duong To commune, Phu Quoc city, Kien Giang ) began to voluntarily dismantle the construction.
According to VTC News reporters on the same afternoon, outside the construction site were posted many notices saying "Construction is being dismantled, no entry allowed without permission".
Inside the construction site, many machines and equipment are dismantling each item.
Regarding this illegal construction, in August 2022, the Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee issued a decision to fine Mr. Hung 61.5 million VND for organizing construction work that was not in accordance with the approved construction plan and converting perennial land to non -agricultural land in rural areas. However, the owner of the construction only paid the administrative fine and did not comply with the demolition.
By May 2023, the People's Committee of Phu Quoc City planned to enforce the demolition of the project, but Mr. Hung asked for more time to dismantle it himself. The Phu Quoc City government requested Mr. Hung to complete the demolition before June 1, 2024.
According to Mr. Vu Manh Hung, the cost of building this 12-storey hotel was about 100 billion VND. The estimated time to complete the demolition and restore the original state is 3 months.
Before the COVID-19 outbreak, the building on Tran Hung Dao Street in Cua Lap Hamlet, Duong To Commune, Phu Quoc City was only 6 stories high, but was later added 6 more stories to make it a 12-story building.
Mr. Vu Manh Hung was forced to dismantle the illegal construction work with an area of 2,746 square meters on plots of land number 639, 645, 9, and 129. At the same time, the original state of the land before the violation with an area of 473 square meters was restored.
