The Korea Open is a Super 500 tournament under the BWF World Tour system, considered one of the most prestigious badminton tournaments in Asia.
After 4 days of competition, Indonesian tennis players continuously created surprises, from singles to doubles.
In the men's singles, Indonesia secured a place in the final when Alwi Farhan and Jonatan Christie faced each other in the semi-finals.
Christie was seeded fourth in the tournament and reaching the semi-finals was no surprise. But for Farhan, it was a real shock.
At just 20 years old, Farhan is currently ranked 21st in the world . With a height of only 1.71m and badminton, his appearance is considered "short". However, the Indonesian tennis player continuously creates surprises in the tournament.
After defeating higher-ranked opponents from Malaysia and Taiwan, Farhan went on to upset China's eighth seed Weng Hongyang in the quarterfinals.
Weng is 26 years old, at the peak of his career and ranked 11th in the world. The Chinese tennis player has a huge collection of titles, with championships ranging from the Super 300, 500 to 1,000 tournaments.
Fans expected a one-sided match as Weng beat Farhan 21-4 in the first set of the quarter-final.
But in the next two games, Farhan won back 21-16 and 21-17, creating an earthquake in the tournament.

Farhan's victory also eliminated all Chinese representatives in the men's singles semi-finals.
In the remaining events, Indonesia also contributed outstanding representatives. That is Wardani - the 4th seed in the women's singles semi-finals. In the men's doubles event, it is the Alfani - Fikri pair, and Syahnawi - Marwah pair in the mixed doubles event.
Similar to the men's singles, the Syahnawi - Marwah pair were not highly rated. But they caused a shock when they came from behind to win against the Chinese Gou - Chen pair (seeded number 4) in the quarterfinals.
The only event Indonesia did not have a representative in the semi-finals was the women's singles, when players from Japan and South Korea showed overwhelming strength.
