Hanoi reverses the trend to start the season "thirsty" for victory

On the evening of September 26, Hanoi FC had their first victory in V-League 2025/26 after a dramatic 2-1 comeback against U17 Thanh Hoa at Hang Day Stadium, thereby extending their 15-year unbeaten streak against the Thanh team in the "fire pan" of the Capital.

Both teams entered the match in round 5 in a difficult situation, having not won any matches after the first 4 rounds. The match therefore had a meaning beyond 3 points, as both Hanoi and Thanh Hoa were eager to dispel the series of disappointing matches and restart the season.

The match started unexpectedly. In the 2nd minute, from a seemingly harmless long ball, center back Do Duy Manh, in an effort to block the ball, accidentally kicked the ball into his face, causing it to bounce back into the penalty area. Striker Gordon Rimario did not miss the opportunity, rushing down and finishing with his right foot into the near corner, defeating goalkeeper Van Hoang, opening the score for the away team Thanh Hoa.

The early goal left Hanoi confused and out of control of the game. The coordination became disjointed, the defense was constantly forced to defend against the opponent's fast attacks.

After a difficult first half, Hanoi had a strong response at the beginning of the second half. In the 48th minute, Hai Long's decisive shot from outside the penalty area made it impossible for goalkeeper Y Eli Nie to catch the ball, creating conditions for Daniel Passira to rush in and finish to equalize 1-1. The goal relieved psychological pressure and helped the home team play more enthusiastically.

In the 58th minute, Hanoi took the lead. Xuan Manh broke through on the right wing and made an accurate cross. Luiz Fernando moved at the right time, tapping the ball into the net from close range, raising the score to 2-1 for the home team at Hang Day Stadium.

With the advantage of leading, Hanoi took the initiative to control the game. In the 67th minute, Hai Long almost increased the score to 3-1 with a beautiful volley but the ball went over the crossbar. On the other side of the battle line, Thanh Hoa still tried to find an equalizer.

The match ended with a score of 2-1 in favor of Hanoi FC. This was not only the first victory of the capital representative in this year's season, but also helped them continue to maintain their unbeaten record at home at Hang Day Stadium against Thanh Hoa for the past 15 years.

On the contrary, this defeat has caused coach Choi Won Kwon and his team to sink deeper into crisis. After 5 rounds, Thanh Hoa has only 2 points, unable to escape the bottom of the rankings.
