Indonesian fan dies while watching home team at FIFA Days

(NLDO) - During the FIFA Days friendly match between Indonesia and Lebanon, an Indonesian fan passed away due to health reasons.

A 25-year-old Indonesian fan, Djalu Ariel Fristianto, a member of the Ultras Garuda group, died while cheering for his team in a 0-0 draw with Lebanon on the evening of September 8 at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (Surabaya City).

According to Bola newspaper, this unfortunate incident happened due to health problems when the patient had a history of asthma or difficulty breathing and passed away despite being taken to the hospital.

President of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Erick Thohir expressed his condolences to the victim's family. I was present to meet the family. May the deceased rest in peace and the family be given fortitude.

Erick also called on all Indonesian football fans to always pay attention to their personal health conditions before attending matches at the stadium.

PSSI also recommends that fans pay attention to their health before coming to the stadium. Spectators with congenital diseases or medical history should consider watching the team on television and digital platforms instead of going directly to the stadium.

People with special health problems should also consult their doctor before attending crowded events.

According to PSSI, medical work at the stadium is always guaranteed by coordinating with Surabaya City and setting up 8 stations with a team of doctors and medical staff on duty to handle emergencies.

In addition, all spectators who buy tickets to watch the national team will be covered by life insurance from PSSI's official partner. The families of the victims will also receive this insurance benefit.
