Parents who want to choose a university for their children, visit the cafeteria

(Dan Tri) - When visiting any university with your child, take them to the cafeteria on campus to let them feel whether the school is suitable for them or not.

An article by an American parent named Cristine Struble was published in the Education section of the Business Insider (USA) news site. Cristine gave interesting tips to help parents and their children choose a university.

Cristine said she has experience helping her two sons choose a college. When visiting any college, she and her son always stop by the cafeteria on campus, so they can get a feel for whether the school is a good fit for them.

Cristine found that visiting the cafeteria was a very important experience. Having her child sit at a table, observe the groups of students, feel the atmosphere inside the cafeteria and be able to talk to some of the students up close was a way to help her make the right choice about the school she wanted to try to get into.

Visits to schools can be made at any stage where parents and students feel they need them. For example, when a young person is uncertain about the options open to them, visiting the school and sitting in the cafeteria is the quickest way to determine which school is right for them.

According to Cristine, parents and students should order food together, sit at the table, feel the taste of student life, and spend time observing student groups. Each student group will provide a small perspective. Feeling the style of many student groups appearing in the cafeteria will help children more or less in choosing a school, in addition to orientations for future careers.

If your child can't see himself in any group of students, isn't interested in getting to know anyone, can't start a conversation with anyone... then that school may not be the right choice for him.

Having your child feel involved in the student community at school can help make the transition from high school to college easier. The student community is an important factor in making your child's college years meaningful and fulfilling.

Cristine said her eldest son had dreamed of going to university, but the experience at the cafeteria made him decide to give up this priority choice because he felt it was no longer suitable.

When the teenager visited another school, he could walk over to another table to get acquainted and strike up a friendly conversation with the students. As soon as Cristine saw that her son could comfortably communicate with the students, she knew that this was the school her son would choose to attend.

When chatting with seniors, Cristine's son mainly asked about the curriculum, school clubs, dorm life...

Cristine never helped him get to know the students, he had to take the initiative to approach them. It was a useful experience for him. After a few visits to the university, the teenager gradually became more confident and proactive.

Although the cafeteria is not the only place Cristine and her child visit, for her, it is an important stop. Seeing groups of young, vibrant people sitting together eating, drinking, and chatting helps her child make a more informed decision about choosing a school.
