Crowded in the rain waiting for the parade

For more than 24 hours, from early morning until the afternoon of September 1, tens of thousands of people from all over flocked to Ba Dinh Square (Hanoi). They spread out tarps, set up umbrellas, and held hand fans, braving the sun and rain to reserve their seats on the sidewalk, patiently waiting for the solemn moment of the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
