Spent 20 million VND on liposuction, had to be hospitalized again due to penile infection

A male patient spent 20 million VND on liposuction at Rita Cosmetic Clinic (District 10, Ho Chi Minh City) and had to be hospitalized due to an infection in his abdomen and penis.

On November 15, the Inspector of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that he had received a quick report from Gia Dinh People's Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) regarding a case of a patient hospitalized due to abdominal wall cellulitis (acute infection - PV) in the lower abdomen and penis after liposuction.

The address for liposuction is the cosmetic clinic of Rita Cosmetic Clinic Company Limited, located at 314 Cao Thang, Ward 12, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City.

This clinic is led by Dr. HVT, who is responsible for technical expertise and has been approved by the Department of Health for 37 technical categories related to cosmetic surgery of the head, face, and neck area.

At the time of inspection, the company representative said that it was currently completing procedures to change ownership at the City Department of Planning and Investment and was not accepting customers for cosmetic services.

However, through actual inspection, it was noted that in the operating room on the first floor, there were reports of consumables with information that customer NT performed liposuction service for 20 million VND.

Through information provided by the patient and documents, the company representative admitted that the liposuction service for customer NT on November 9 was performed by Dr. H.

The Department of Health Inspectorate determined that the provision of liposuction services at the clinic exceeded the approved scope of technical expertise.

In addition, the practitioner did not register to practice medical examination and treatment; the advertisement for medical examination and treatment services had not been approved by the competent authority before implementation.

The Health Department Inspectorate continues to verify, clarify and strictly handle violations related to medical examination and treatment activities at this clinic and related individuals, and publicly announce the results of the sanctions.

The Health Department Inspectorate added that this clinic has changed its name three times: initially registered as Sunny Luxury Company Limited, in July 2022 it changed its name to Hanjin's Luxury Company Limited, and in September 2023 it changed its name to Rita Cosmetic Clinic Company Limited.

Previously, in September 2023, the cosmetic clinic of Sunny Luxury Company Limited was fined for not posting prices for medical examination and treatment services, and for not keeping a medical examination and treatment book but not recording it fully as required by law.
