After correcting the competition results and team positions, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) deleted the information of the Vietnamese athlete. Dang Thi Hong's entire profile, including basic personal information and competition parameters, was left blank.
Before that, after 5 matches of the group stage, Dang Thi Hong was one of the athletes with the most points in the tournament. The female striker born in 2006 is the main hitter of the Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team.
Dang Thi Hong is the main hitter of U21 Vietnam.
In the last 2 matches of U21 Vietnam (winning against Puerto Rico and Egypt), Dang Thi Hong was not registered to play. However, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team still won convincingly. Her teammates did a good job of scoring points in place of the main striker who was not on the field.
Currently, the Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team continues to compete in the U21 World Cup after the penalty. Coach Nguyen Trong Linh and his team will face Chile tomorrow (August 15).
Meanwhile, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) is working on legal issues with the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). VFV confirmed that it has provided all the documents required by FIVB to verify the birth certificate of the athletes. FIVB authenticated these documents before the tournament as well as when requesting VFV to provide additional documents during the competition of the Vietnam U21 team.
