Proactively suspend entertainment, recreation and tourism activities to ensure safety

Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 3 (Wipha), on July 19, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung issued an urgent dispatch requesting departments and affiliated units to proactively deploy response plans to ensure the safety of people, tourists and assets under their management.

According to the telegram, the Directors of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Tourism of provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Quang Ngai and the northern mountainous areas such as Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien... need to closely coordinate with local authorities and functional forces to inspect and review all accommodation facilities and tourist spots, especially coastal areas and islands, at risk of landslides and flash floods. Units must have plans to evacuate and relocate tourists to safe places, and at the same time count and notify vehicles operating at sea to stay away from dangerous areas.

In addition, the dispatch emphasized the need to strengthen inspections of cultural and sports facilities, historical and cultural relics and scenic spots. Depending on weather developments, localities are required to proactively suspend recreational, entertainment and tourism activities to ensure safety.

Regarding communication work, press, radio, television and grassroots information agencies are required to regularly update forecast bulletins from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, focusing on disseminating measures to prevent floods, landslides and epidemics caused by flooding.

Local units of the ministry are also required to closely monitor the situation and advise officials and civil servants to limit their movements during the storm. The Construction Investment Project Management Board needs to direct contractors to deploy measures to protect the works and prepare forces and means to respond when necessary.
