Due to the impact of storm No. 10, on National Highway 48, there were a series of deep flooding and landslides, causing serious traffic jams.

According to a report from Nghe An Bridge and Road Construction and Management Joint Stock Company - the unit directly managing this route, as of 2:00 p.m. this afternoon (September 29), the entire route has recorded 8 flooded spots and 9 landslides, posing potential traffic safety risks.

Flooded areas range from 40 cm to 1.5 m deep, mainly located at the following locations: Km23+100 - Km23+300 (Dong Hieu commune), Km68+300 - Km69+200 and Km72+700 (Chau Binh commune), Km90+500, Km91+400, Km94+000 - Km94+100 (Quy Chau commune), along with Km99+000 - Km103+000 and Km106+000 (Chau Tien commune). Many areas are isolated, vehicles cannot circulate.

At the same time, landslides also occurred consecutively at 9 points, with soil and rocks overflowing onto the road, posing a potential risk to traffic safety. In particular, in Tien Phong commune, 3 consecutive landslides appeared at Km116+100, Km116+300 and Km118+450. In Thong Thu commune, the landslide situation was more complicated, with 6 points including: Km138+640, Km141+520, Km142+350, Km142+530, Km142+900 and Km156+300.

Mr. Pham Hong Suu - Director of Nghe An Bridge and Road Construction and Management Joint Stock Company said that immediately after the appearance of deep flooding and landslides on National Highway 48, the unit directed the management departments to quickly deploy barriers, place warning signs and arrange forces to be on duty 24/24 hours at dangerous locations. At the same time, coordinate with local authorities to strictly control, not allowing people and vehicles to circulate through high-risk areas.

Authorities have also diverted traffic and closed roads in deeply flooded areas to ensure the safety of people and vehicles during the rainy season. Currently, the management unit is urgently mobilizing machinery and equipment, ready to level soil and rocks and fix landslides as soon as the weather conditions are favorable.
