Reporting at the ceremony, Director of the National Defense Academy, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Viet Khoa said that in the 2024-2025 school year, the Academy organized 18 concentrated training courses, including 12 trainees who are senior officials of the Party, State, and Vietnam People's Army; senior officers of the armies of several countries. To improve the quality of training - education, scientific research, the Academy has actively taken the lead in updating the situation, thoroughly grasping the Party's guidelines and viewpoints, closely following the country's reality, defense and security tasks, the development of the armed forces and the army, including them in the content and training programs.

The Academy has carried out research on many national and Ministry of National Defense level scientific topics; actively researched and summarized practical experiences, especially advising and proposing to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on a number of issues related to military and national defense. As a result of the 2024-2025 school year, the Academy has 68 scientific research topics, including: Four State-level topics, five Ministry of National Defense-level topics, three provincial and city-level topics, 56 grassroots-level topics; compiled many textbooks and documents...

The Academy has also implemented many drastic measures to improve the quality of its staff and lecturers; proactively built facilities and techniques to meet the requirements of management, administration, training and scientific research; promoted defense cooperation, and made important contributions to implementing the foreign policy of the Party and the State... Notably, the work of building a strong Party Committee of the Academy in terms of politics, ideology, ethics, organization and staff, associated with building a strong Academy in all aspects "Exemplary, typical", has always been given attention. The Academy successfully organized the 12th Congress of the Academy Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030.

To continue to maintain and promote the achievements and results that have been achieved, the Party Committee and Board of Directors of the National Defense Academy determined to continue to strive vigorously, unite, overcome difficulties, be active, proactively innovate to continue to strive to successfully fulfill the responsibilities assigned by the Party, State, Government, Central Military Commission, and the Head of the Ministry of National Defense.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, the President stated that over nearly 50 years of development, the National Defense Academy has trained tens of thousands of senior military officers; fostered defense and security knowledge for thousands of senior officials of the Party, State, and armed forces; trained hundreds of doctors and masters of military science, hundreds of senior military officers of several countries; and organized many international defense officer training courses for students from 34 countries around the world.

The President affirmed that the Academy is a bright spot in scientific research, strategic advice, theoretical development, improving the leadership, direction and management capacity of the Party and State in national defense and security, contributing to building the army, consolidating national defense, protecting the Fatherland early and from afar, maintaining political and social stability, creating a solid foundation for the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the President congratulated and commended the achievements and continuous efforts of the cadres, lecturers, students, staff and soldiers of the National Defense Academy over the past years.

In the context of the world still facing unprecedented challenges, the President assessed that after 40 years of renovation, Vietnam has achieved great and historic achievements; the country's potential, position and prestige have been increasingly enhanced in the international arena. However, the country is also facing many difficulties and challenges that cannot be ignored, including in the military, defense and security fields.

To effectively perform the functions and tasks of the National Defense Academy in the new period, the President requested that the Academy continue to proactively and seriously implement effectively the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on national defense and security, and the requirements and tasks of building a contingent of senior officials of the Party, State and Army; at the same time, proactively prepare to thoroughly grasp and immediately implement the Resolution of the 12th Army Party Congress and the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress in training and education work to create a breakthrough in the content, programs and methods of training and education, closely linking theory with practice, in line with the strategy of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.

The President noted the need to regularly update new knowledge on military science, especially modern combat methods, multi-domain operations, high-tech warfare, cyber warfare,... theories and practices on protecting the Fatherland in the context of complicated developments in traditional and non-traditional security; at the same time, closely follow the practical military - defense and security tasks of the country, closely linking rapid and sustainable socio-economic development with firmly ensuring national defense and security, in all situations, paying special attention to the process of implementing the organization of the two-level local government apparatus.

Along with that, the President emphasized the need to promote scientific research, strategic consulting, and development of Vietnamese military art; thoroughly grasp and effectively implement Resolution 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation; do a good job of summarizing practices, developing military, defense, and security theories, especially on protecting the Fatherland early and from afar; not to let the country be passive or surprised strategically in all situations; maximize the country's combined strength with the strength of the times in building and protecting the Fatherland.

On the other hand, according to the President, the Academy needs to improve the quality of defense foreign affairs activities, expand international cooperation; cooperation activities need to be diverse, closely and vividly combining knowledge exchange and sharing with promoting the image and position of the country, people, and Vietnam's peaceful, self-defense, and just defense policy; affirming Vietnam's mettle, intelligence, and prestige in the international arena.

Regarding the leadership and direction of the organization to build the National Defense Academy into an advanced, modern, and leading regional strategic academy with international prestige and influence, the President said that it is necessary to build a truly clean and strong Party Committee of the Academy, exemplary in politics, ideology, ethics, organization and staff. Each cadre, party member, lecturer and scientist of the Academy must be a shining example of political courage, moral qualities, intelligence and practical capacity; pioneering in thought, creative in action, steadfast in protecting the Party's ideological foundation and inspiring students with their own personality, knowledge and responsibility.

The President suggested that the Academy should quickly review, standardize, and modernize the system of regulations, rules, and criteria for studying and training; persistently build a modern, humane, and progressive pedagogical environment; promote the application of science and technology, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, big data, and virtual reality simulation in teaching and training; manage and build a "Smart Academy". Build the Academy not only as a center for training, scientific research, and strategic advice, but also as a center for guiding the building of a national defense.

For the students, the President requires a fuller and deeper understanding of the increasingly high requirements for thinking, vision, mettle, qualities, and capacity of cadres of the Party, State, and armed forces in the new era; proactively study, practice, research practices, and improve the capacity for analysis, forecasting, consulting, commanding, and modern management.

The President also hopes that all levels and sectors will continue to pay attention to leadership, direction, and create favorable conditions for the National Defense Academy to perform its functions and tasks well; invest in building the National Defense Academy into a truly modern military, defense, and security training and scientific research center on par with other countries in the region and the world.

Emphasizing that with its glorious tradition, along with a team of highly qualified cadres and lecturers, with strong political will, responsibility and determination, the President believes that the National Defense Academy will successfully complete its tasks in the 2025-2026 school year, continue to be the locomotive of innovation in the field of education and training, create the image of a leading strategic academy in the region, have international prestige, and make important contributions to the cause of building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Previously, the President offered incense at the memorial site of President Ho Chi Minh on the campus of the Academy; visited the Tradition Room and Library of the National Defense Academy.
