
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong expressed his joy when visiting Oita province - the onsen capital of Japan - for the first time; highly appreciated the development of Vietnam - Japan relations over the past 52 years, especially after nearly 2 years since Vietnam and Japan upgraded their relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, in the fields of economics, politics , culture, education, people-to-people exchange..., in which cooperation with the Kyushu region in general and Oita province in particular has become increasingly close and substantive.
Sharing the efforts of Vietnam, including the Vietnamese National Assembly, in perfecting institutions, building the legal system and implementing Vietnam's development goals in the new era, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly affirmed that Vietnam wishes to further deepen the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in all fields, especially in local cooperation - a highlight in the Vietnam-Japan bilateral relationship.

Informing about the development priorities and strengths of Da Nang City and Quang Ngai Province, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong suggested that the Governor and Chairman of the Oita Provincial Council pay attention to promoting delegation exchanges through government and parliamentary channels, promoting cooperation between Oita Province and Vietnamese localities in the fields of agriculture, especially high-tech agriculture, tourism, and resorts - areas where the province has strengths, as well as promoting cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries; implementing the Memorandum of Understanding between Oita Province and Quang Ngai Province not only in the field of human resources, but also in the field of hot spring tourism and mud baths - areas where the two provinces have strengths.
The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly thanked and suggested that Oita province continue to have many practical support policies, improve working conditions and environment for Vietnamese workers in the province, as well as create conditions to receive more Vietnamese students to study in the province.

At the meetings, the leaders of Oita province congratulated Vietnam on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day and the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka; expressed their joy and gratitude to Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong and the Vietnamese National Assembly delegation for choosing Oita province as the destination to visit during their first working trip to Japan; affirmed that Oita province highly values and wishes to promote cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of economy, trade, investment, labor and tourism, as well as in other potential fields such as agricultural, forestry and fishery processing.
Governor of Oita Prefecture Sato Kiichiro informed about the cooperation with Vietnam in recent times, especially cooperation in people-to-people exchange, education and culture; highly appreciated the community of 3,700 Vietnamese people in the province for their many positive contributions, being an indispensable and inseparable force in the socio-economic development of Oita Prefecture. The Governor acknowledged the role of the Vietnamese Association in the province in connecting Vietnamese people and contributing to promoting mutual understanding, reducing differences through cultural and culinary exchange activities between the two countries.


Chairman of the Oita Prefectural Assembly Shima Koichi shared memories of his visit to Vietnam 7 years ago; informed that Oita Prefecture signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with Quang Ngai Province in 2023; affirmed that the Prefectural Assembly will make every effort to promote cooperation between Oita Prefecture and localities of Vietnam; and will study the possibility of establishing a Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance in the Prefectural Assembly as directed by the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly.
At the meetings, the Governor and Chairman of the Oita Provincial Assembly expressed their wish to visit Vietnam in the near future.
