President Luong Cuong: Continue to build a 'refined, compact, strong' army

On the morning of December 14, the Ministry of National Defense, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Public Security , and Cao Bang province jointly organized a national scientific conference with the theme "Vietnam People's Army - Heroic tradition, glorious career, core force in building a strong national defense".

President Luong Cuong – Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, Commander of the People's Armed Forces – attended and delivered a speech at the conference.

The People's Army and the People's Police are the core forces.

Speaking at the workshop, the President affirmed that this workshop is one of the major and key activities in a series of national activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day.

The President emphasized that the Vietnam People's Army, together with the People's Public Security, is the core force to protect the Party, the State, the people, the achievements of the revolution and the socialist regime; to fight and defeat the strategy of " peaceful evolution" and violent overthrow by hostile forces, and to maintain a peaceful and stable environment for national development.

The army has deployed and made important contributions to foreign affairs, notably participating in the United Nations peacekeeping force, international cooperation in overcoming the consequences of war, and enforcing international law...

The People's Army and the People's Public Security are also always the leading forces in natural disaster prevention, search and rescue, and effectively implementing policy work, military rear work, and gratitude movements, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, etc., making an important contribution to the cause of consolidating and strengthening the great national unity bloc, building a "people's heart posture", a national defense posture associated with a solid people's security posture.

Continue to build a "refined, compact, strong" army

At the workshop, President Luong Cuong also requested to focus on discussing and deepening the scientific and practical significance of this important event with 5 notes.

Firstly, continue to affirm the absolute and direct leadership in all aspects of the Communist Party of Vietnam over the People's Armed Forces and the cause of national defense and security.

This is a consistent principle throughout the Vietnamese revolutionary process, the decisive factor in all victories, ensuring that the armed forces increasingly mature and grow, and successfully fulfill the historical mission assigned by the Party, State and people.

Second, analyze, interpret, deepen and highlight the great contributions in the process of building, fighting, growing and winning of the Vietnam People's Army, the qualities and cultural values ​​of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers".

Thereby, we can draw historical lessons and unique features of Vietnamese military art and military culture that can be applied and promoted to improve the quality of training, coaching, drills, and combat readiness in peacetime of the army.

Continue to adjust the force organization, complete the goal of building a "refined, compact, strong" army, create a solid foundation, and strive to build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern people's army by 2030.

On that basis, we must always be alert, vigilant, and ready to fight, firmly protect the airspace, sea, border, inland, and cyberspace; closely coordinate with the People's Public Security force to maintain security and order throughout the country. Fight against the wrong views of hostile forces that deny the position, role, and functions of the Vietnam People's Army.

Third, explain and affirm the importance of building a strong army in all aspects, taking strong political building as the foundation; building a truly clean and strong army Party organization, exemplary and representative in politics, ideology, ethics, organization and cadres, creating a solid foundation to improve overall quality and combat strength, always heighten revolutionary vigilance, ready to receive and excellently complete all tasks, not to be passive or surprised.

Take care to build a team of cadres and party members following the spirit of "7 dares"; regularly innovate and improve the quality of political education work in the Army.

Fourth, promote the core role in consolidating national defense and security, firmly protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland; well perform the functions of a fighting army, a working army and a production labor army, and the core role of the Vietnam People's Army in building a strong all-people national defense.

Regularly strengthen the solidarity and close relationship between the army and the people. Continue to maintain, promote and spread the qualities, traditions and culture of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in building and defending the Fatherland according to the Resolution of the 8th Central Conference, Session XIII.

At the same time, promote international integration and defense diplomacy, enhance the image and prestige of the Vietnam People's Army in the international arena, contributing to protecting the Fatherland early and from afar.

Fifth, continue to thoroughly grasp, analyze, and deeply explain the Party's guidelines and viewpoints on building and consolidating all-people national defense, all-people national defense posture associated with people's security posture; and build a solid "people's heart posture".

Summarizing achievements and drawing lessons from 35 years of implementing the National Defense Day; promoting proactiveness, creativity, self-reliance, and promoting the strength of great national unity.

At the same time, combine national strength with the strength of the times, promote international integration and defense diplomacy to enhance the overall strength in the cause of consolidating national defense and protecting the Fatherland.

President Luong Cuong also affirmed that the Party, State and people believe that the People's Army will continuously promote its heroic tradition and glorious career, continue to achieve outstanding feats, and together with the entire people enter a new era, an era of national advancement, building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
