President: Strive to make Quang Ninh a model province rich, beautiful, civilized and modern

On the evening of October 28, the ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of Quang Ninh province (October 30, 1963 - October 30, 2023) took place at October 30 Square, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province.

President Vo Van Thuong attended and delivered a speech at the event. Also attending were former Politburo member, former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An; former Politburo Standing Member, former Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Pham The Duyet; former Politburo member, former Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong. Also attending were Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang; Party Central Committee Secretary, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai and representatives of leaders of central departments, ministries, branches and some neighboring localities. In particular, the ceremony had the participation of delegates of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces and a large number of people and tourists.

Speaking at the Commemoration Ceremony, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Xuan Ky stated: Under the glorious flag of the Party, over the past 60 years, Quang Ninh has achieved great achievements, many outstanding aspects, pioneering and breakthroughs, making important contributions to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland, innovating and developing the country. On the foundation and momentum of development that has been created, Quang Ninh aims to become a typical province of the country in all aspects by 2030; a model province of wealth, civilization, modernity, improving all aspects of people's lives; a growth pole of the Northern region, one of the centers of dynamic and comprehensive development; an international tourism center, a center of marine economy, a gateway to the Northern Key Economic Zone and the whole country...

The Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee emphasized: The historical moment of Quang Ninh province 60 years ago chose to entrust and place on the shoulders of generations of cadres and people of all ethnic groups in the province a glorious mission and great responsibility, and today we have the duty to continue writing heroic pages of history, based on the cultural foundation, character, and dignity of the people of the Mining Region, resilient, indomitable, "Disciplined and Unanimous", united, creative, generous, and heroic, which are forged from the length of history and the depth of culture...

Speaking at the ceremony, President Vo Van Thuong emphasized that Quang Ninh - the homeland's northernmost point; where the Bach Dang River is located, marking the nation's heroic history with three victories over invaders. Quang Ninh - the mining region, is the cradle of the Vietnamese working class and the mining industry; the starting point of the "proletarianization" movement. Quang Ninh is proud to have the majestic and poetic Ha Long Bay, recognized by UNESCO as a world natural heritage and world heritage; Yen Tu - the origin of the Truc Lam Zen sect, associated with the name of King Tran Nhan Tong - an outstanding politician and great cultural figure of the nation. Along with that is a system of unique and colorful landscapes, landscapes, and traditional festivals. Through the glorious years of building and defending their homeland, the ethnic people of Quang Ninh and the miners, generation after generation, have built a tradition of solidarity, diligence, creativity, indomitability, resilience, and courage for the people and homeland of Quang Ninh.

Appreciating the socio-economic development results of Quang Ninh, the President emphasized that Quang Ninh is increasingly affirming its position and role as a growth pole of the Northern region. One of the outstanding marks is the promotion of the construction of infrastructure systems, especially synchronous and modern transport infrastructure. Along with that, it is closely and harmoniously linking economic development with cultural development, social progress and equity, ensuring social security, caring for the material and spiritual life of the people, with many policies and guidelines that are superior to many localities across the country, especially focusing on mountainous, border and island areas. Historical, cultural values, natural heritages are preserved, embellished, promoted, associated with tourism development. Quang Ninh has completed the new rural construction program at all 3 levels; The national target program for sustainable poverty reduction for the 2021-2025 period was completed 3 years ahead of schedule. National defense, security, and national border sovereignty were maintained; social order and safety were ensured. The organizational apparatus was streamlined; the effectiveness and efficiency of government management were improved. The provincial competitiveness index and other indicators reflecting an honest, creative, active, and people-serving government were among the top in the country...

“Returning to Quang Ninh today, we are pleased to see that from urban to rural areas, from the mainland to the islands, they are filled with new vitality, new spirit and new stature, creating confidence to move firmly towards the future,” the President said, warmly congratulating and praising the achievements that the Party Committee and people of Quang Ninh province have achieved in recent years.

To build and develop Quang Ninh into a model province of wealth, civilization and modernity; a center of dynamic and comprehensive development; an international tourism center, a center of maritime economy, a gateway to the key economic region of the North and the whole country; along with the good implementation of the resolutions of the Central Committee, the tasks and solutions set forth by the 15th Provincial Party Congress, the President requested the province to regularly do a good job of building and rectifying the Party and a truly clean and strong political system; constantly improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party committees and organizations at all levels; maintain discipline and order, promote the exemplary role and responsibility of leaders; preserve and consolidate solidarity and unity within the Party. Innovate and strengthen the work of inspection, supervision and Party discipline in conjunction with stepping up the fight against corruption and negativity. Promote democracy and the strength of the great national unity bloc, consolidate and strengthen the people's trust. Focus on improving the quality of the team of leaders, managers, civil servants and public employees in the political system. Continuously take care of building a strong working class, truly a pioneering force in the innovation and development of the province, worthy of the tradition of the Heroic Mining Region.

Along with that, develop the economy rapidly and sustainably; restructure the economy associated with strong innovation of the growth model, change of development methods; enhance the application of science and technology, associated with innovation and increase of labor productivity; promote digital transformation, green transformation, accelerate the speed of industrialization - modernization, urbanization; closely combine and improve the quality of industry, services, agriculture; harmoniously link urban and rural development, promote regional linkages; continue to invest in building sustainable and substantive new rural areas.

The President hopes that Quang Ninh will continue to invest in preserving and promoting the value of its invaluable cultural, historical and natural heritage systems, in conjunction with tourism development, creating a driving force for socio-economic development. Continue to improve the quality of education and training, especially in mountainous areas and ethnic minority areas, creating human resources to meet the development requirements of the province. Regularly take care of people's health; take good care of policy families and meritorious people; well solve social security; improve people's quality of life, narrow the gap between rich and poor regions in the province.

In particular, the President noted that Quang Ninh attaches importance to resource management, environmental protection, natural disaster prevention, search and rescue, minimizing the consequences of natural disasters on people and property of the people and the state. Focus on tree planting and forest protection, protection of the marine environment, industrial production zones, coal mining areas... Regularly and firmly consolidate the national defense posture associated with the people's security posture, "the posture of the people's hearts", ensure political stability, firmly protect independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national border security.

The President believes that by promoting the glorious cultural and historical traditions of the Heroic Mining Region, along with the great achievements gained after 60 years of the province's establishment, the Party Committee and the people of all ethnic groups in Quang Ninh province will continue to achieve even greater results; constantly strive to make Quang Ninh a large, peaceful and sustainable region; to become a model province rich, beautiful, civilized and modern, with people increasingly prosperous, peaceful and happy.

The program of the 60th anniversary of the founding of Quang Ninh province has the theme "Aspiration to build a model Quang Ninh, rich, beautiful, civilized, modern". The program opened with the parade ceremony of 36 groups with over 2,500 people from the armed forces, people's police, departments, branches, organizations, unions, youth forces, and people of localities; the largest-scale drum performance in Vietnam, elaborately staged with over 600 people, with a smooth and rich combination of drum art, folk dance, dragon dance, flag dance, singing... expressing the heroic spirit of the nation.

After the solemn ceremony is a unique art program with consistent political ideology, high generalization and strong cultural, spirit and will of the people of the Mining Region through 60 years of formation and development.
