The first case was a 15-year-old male patient who presented with right iliac fossa abdominal pain 3 hours earlier.
Ultrasound results showed the patient had acute appendicitis, 7mm appendix inflammation, surrounding fat infiltration, blood test showed increased white blood cells.
The surgeons in the team who were rotating to Con Dao consulted remotely and asked for surgical prescriptions from the Board of Directors of Binh Dan Hospital, agreed on the diagnosis of localized peritonitis due to appendicitis, and indicated emergency laparoscopic appendectomy. After surgery, the patient's condition was stable.
The second case was a 54-year-old female patient with a history of hypertension and cesarean section (previous incision in the lower abdomen). The patient was admitted because of pain around the navel, localized in the right iliac fossa, lasting 8 hours previously.
Ultrasound showed 10mm appendicitis, fecal stones, fluid around the end, monitoring for rupture. The patient was ordered a CT scan, the diagnosis was peritonitis due to appendicitis.
Through remote consultation and professional guidance from Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tran Vinh Hung, Director of Binh Dan Hospital, indicated laparoscopic surgery to remove adhesions from the previous surgery, remove inflamed appendix, pus localized in the right iliac fossa, and perform laparoscopic appendectomy. The patient's condition is currently stable.
Previously, Con Dao Military Medical Center also performed laparoscopic surgery to remove ovarian tumor for patient PTQ (37 years old). After more than 1 hour of surgery, the left ovarian tumor was safely removed, the tumor tissue contained sebum, skin and hair. After surgery, the patient was stable.
