Police detained two cars with the same blue license plate

Ha Tinh: A Ford Laser and a Toyota Hiace with the same official license plate 38A-1169, usually parked on Vo Liem Son Street, were temporarily detained by Ha Tinh City Police for investigation.

On the evening of March 29, Ha Tinh City Police said they had brought two cars to the headquarters for verification, of which the Toyota Hiace had its license plate removed.

The owner of the 5-seat Ford Laser with license plate 38A-1169 is registered as the Ha Tinh Youth Vocational Training and Employment Services Center, under the Ha Tinh Provincial Youth Union. On December 22, 2022, the Vocational Training Center sold the vehicle to Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Hoa, 36 years old, residing in Nam Ha Ward, Ha Tinh City. The sale documents were carried out in accordance with regulations, but during the vehicle handover process, the unit did not collect the license plate.

The 12-seat Toyota Hiace is an old vehicle of the Nghe An Provincial Department of Transport, with old license plate 37A-1989, blue background, white letters and numbers. The vehicle has undergone registration and license plate revocation procedures on July 10, 2023, and was sold to Mr. Hoang Van Hoa, residing in Hung Tay Commune, Hung Nguyen District, Nghe An Province. Mr. Hoa then resold the vehicle to Mr. Nguyen Duy Tuan, Ms. Hoa's husband.

According to the police, Mr. Tuan and Mrs. Hoa are in the business of buying, selling and selling used cars. Mr. Tuan said he used the 38A-1169 license plate on his Toyota Hiace to serve customers who came to see the car, not to use it on the road.

Ha Tinh City Police said they will advise the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province and the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee to handle the case according to regulations.

The leader of the Traffic Police Department, Ha Tinh Provincial Police, said that two cars sharing the same license plate is against the regulations and advised people who buy liquidated cars from state agencies to transfer ownership within one month after signing the contract.

Previously, two cars with the same license plate were often parked about 15 meters apart on Vo Liem Son Street, Nam Ha Ward, Ha Tinh City.
