Coach Kim Sang-sik's debut match for the Vietnam National Team will be against the Philippines in the 5th match of Group F, the 2nd qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia.

According to the assignment of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), Syrian referee Hanna Hattab was appointed to officiate this match.

The two assistant referees to referee Hanna Hattab were Mr. Mohamad Kazzaz and Ali Ahmad and the fourth referee was Mr. Mohammed Kanah.

Referee Hanna Hattab is no longer a strange name to Vietnamese football, having refereed two matches of the "Golden Star Warriors" at My Dinh Stadium.

In both of those matches, the Vietnam National Team lost with the same score of 0-1 to Saudi Arabia and Oman in the 3rd Qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.

Before the Vietnam-Philippines match, referee Hanna Hattab had officiated a total of 54 international matches, given out 226 yellow cards, 9 direct red cards, 7 indirect red cards and awarded 16 penalties.

According to the match schedule, the match between Vietnam and the Philippines will take place at My Dinh Stadium at 7:00 p.m. on June 6.

After 4 matches, Vietnam is ranked 3rd in Group F with 3 points, while the Philippines has only won 1 point. The chances of both teams advancing are not high as they are far behind the second-placed team, Indonesia (7 points).

Vietnam can only qualify for the next round if they win both remaining matches, but on the condition that Indonesia must lose both matches or at most get 1 more point.

In this group, the Iraqi team has quickly won the right to enter the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup with 12 absolute points.
