In Ho Chi Minh City, there is a zero-dong vegetable and fruit restaurant that has helped many people in difficult circumstances, reducing some of their worries about food and clothing.
Although there are many young people coming to help, the main cooking job is still done by Mrs. My. She said that as a vegetarian, she pays a lot of attention to the taste of the dishes.
The zero-dong vegetarian restaurant has been maintained for more than 2 years. Before that, she and her husband, Mr. Tran Van Hong (over 80 years old), had a shop selling vegetarian banh khot and banh xeo. During the pandemic, she stopped selling and switched to making charity vegetarian meals to help people. During that period, Ms. My and Mr. Hong could make more than 600 portions of rice every day.
