An Indian male tourist was promptly rescued and successfully treated by doctors at Danang Hospital in critical condition after drowning, leading to acute pulmonary edema and severe respiratory failure while swimming in the sea with his family.

The victim was Koka Aneesh (21 years old, Indian nationality), who had an accident while swimming in the sea in the morning. According to relatives, the victim suddenly drowned for about two minutes.

After being rescued, he had difficulty breathing and vomited a lot and was quickly taken to the Emergency Department of Danang Hospital.

At the time of admission, the victim was lethargic, had difficulty breathing, had pale purple skin and mucous membranes, and a SpO2 index of only 65%. Doctors diagnosed the patient with drowning, complications of acute pulmonary edema, and grade IV respiratory failure that was progressing severely.

The victim was immediately resuscitated, intubated, put on a ventilator and transferred to the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department for further treatment.

Here, the victim is closely monitored and actively treated with mechanical ventilation, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs and treatment of electrolyte disorders.

After a day of treatment, the victim was taken off the ventilator, breathing on his own, conscious and recovering quickly. After three days of treatment, Koka Aneesh was discharged and returned home.

Expressing his gratitude for the sense of responsibility and professional competence of the Vietnamese medical team, Koka Aneesh's father shared: "In a foreign land, I am very grateful that my child is being taken care of wholeheartedly by the hospital's dedicated and talented medical team."

Doctors at Danang Hospital also recommend that residents and tourists choose safe swimming areas, warm up thoroughly before entering the water, do not swim alone, and always have an adult accompany children when participating in water activities.

In addition, people need to be equipped with basic first aid knowledge and immediately go to a medical facility for examination when there are unusual signs after an accident in the water./.
