Can Tho strives to become a national growth pole by 2030.

The Can Tho City Party Congress passed a Resolution setting the goal of striving for the city to become a growth pole by 2030, playing the role of a driving force for development, spreading and leading the whole region.

After nearly 3 days of taking place in an urgent, scientific , and serious spirit, with the motto "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Breakthrough - Development", on the morning of September 28, the 1st Congress of Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2025-2030, was a great success.

The Congress passed a Resolution setting the goal that by 2030, Can Tho city will become a growth pole of the country, playing the role of a driving force for development, spreading and leading the whole region.

The city is the regional center of trade, tourism, logistics, marine economy , processing industry, concentrated digital technology, high-tech agriculture, education and training, specialized healthcare, startup center, science and technology and innovation, cultural and sports development; is a regional core urban area; building Can Tho people with rich identity, revolutionary ideals, ethics, intelligence, and a prosperous and happy life.

Along with that is building a clean and strong party organization and political system; ensuring solid national defense and security, maintaining political stability and social order and safety. By 2045, it will be an ecological, civilized and modern city, striving to be among the group of fairly developed cities in Asia, becoming a livable city in Vietnam.

The Congress set out 28 specific targets and identified 5 key tasks, 3 breakthroughs and 10 groups of solutions for the 2025-2030 term. These are to continue to promote Party building and rectification, a clean and strong political system in all aspects; improve the Party's leadership and governing capacity; continue to perfect mechanisms and policies to create breakthroughs for the city's development; develop the economy quickly and sustainably; strengthen research, application, transfer of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation; manage and effectively use resources, protect the environment and respond to climate change.

In addition, comprehensively develop Can Tho's culture and people; continue to fundamentally and comprehensively innovate education and training, improve the quality of human resources; manage sustainable social development, ensure social progress and equity; strengthen national defense and security, build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern armed force; promote the synchronous and effective implementation of foreign affairs activities.

Some key targets: Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) calculated at current prices by 2030 will reach at least 717,000 billion VND. Average GRDP per capita by 2030 strives to reach about 215 million VND/person/year; average growth rate of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in the 2025-2030 period will reach 10-10.5%/year or more; export turnover, services and foreign currency revenue strives to reach 8.2 billion USD by 2030, and in the 2025-2030 period strives to increase by an average of 11%/year; average income per capita by 2030 will reach at least 8.5 million VND/person/month.

Total annual budget revenue increases by about 15%; strives to reach an estimated VND 57,000 billion by 2030. Human Development Index (HDI) by 2030 reaches at least 0.78. The rate of new party members admitted for the 2025-2030 term increases by 3-4% of the total number of party members of the Party Committee...

The city's breakthroughs include promoting the attraction, training and development of human resources, especially high-quality human resources; enhancing research, application of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation in all fields.

Can Tho develops the socio-economic infrastructure system, especially transport infrastructure; information technology infrastructure, digital infrastructure; infrastructure of industrial parks and clusters and concentrated information technology; attracts investment, builds modern logistics centers, linked with international seaports and airports.

The city promotes private economic development; focuses on consolidating and developing new private enterprises; builds and perfects the system of mechanisms and policies, promotes administrative reform, improves the investment and business environment, etc.

The Congress also announced the decisions of the Politburo and the Secretariat on appointing the Can Tho City Party Committee's Inspection Committee consisting of 14 comrades, Ms. Pham Thi Phuong, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, as Chairwoman of the City Party Committee's Inspection Committee; and appointing the Can Tho City Party Committee delegation to attend the 14th National Congress of the Party, consisting of 46 official comrades and 1 alternate comrade.

In his closing speech at the Congress, Mr. Do Thanh Binh, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term, on behalf of the Presidium, said that the Congress unanimously approved important documents: Political Report; Report reviewing the leadership and direction of the Party Executive Committee for the 2020-2025 term; Resolution of the 1st City Party Congress, term 2025-2030.

The Congress believes that the delegates will uphold their sense of responsibility, contribute their intelligence, and contribute to the overall success of the 14th National Party Congress; at the same time, directly grasp and absorb the Party's viewpoints, policies, and important decisions so that immediately after returning to their localities, their units will proactively promote their sense of responsibility, take the lead as exemplary pioneers with Party committees, authorities, and organizations to implement and quickly bring the Party's Resolution into life.

The Congress called on all cadres, party members, soldiers of the armed forces, the business community, all classes of people in the city and Can Tho people in all parts of the country and abroad to continue the heroic tradition, promote the good qualities of the homeland, uphold the spirit of solidarity, enthusiastically compete in labor, scientific research, study and creativity, constantly strive to successfully implement the Resolution of the 1st City Party Congress, term 2025-2030.../.
