Da Nang continues to renovate and restore Dien Hai citadel relic

On March 17, the Department of Culture and Sports of Da Nang City announced that it had completed relevant procedures to implement the project to renovate, restore and embellish the special national relic Dien Hai citadel (phase 2), immediately after the People's Council of Da Nang City passed a resolution deciding on the investment policy.

The total investment of the project is 84 billion VND, phase 2 aims to preserve to the maximum the components and traces of the original relic, recreate part of the landscape space and original architectural components... The investment scale of the project includes: demolishing and relocating inappropriate construction components; archaeological supervision; restoring the eastern gate, western gate and bridge, flagpole, gun house; arranging, preserving and adding cannons; repairing the city walls; embellishing the statue of famous general Nguyen Tri Phuong...

As Thanh Nien reported, the first phase of the project has completed the relocation of households whose houses encroached on the west side of the relic site. Thereby, the authorities excavated the citadel wall and discovered traces of the citadel gate and the western bridge in May 2018 (photo) .
