Having passed university entrance exams, many candidates unexpectedly change direction to college.

(NLDO) - "For me, going to college or university is not the "golden key", the most important thing is to be able to study the right major that I love"

That is the sharing of Tuyet Trinh (in Ho Chi Minh City), a new student majoring in multimedia communications at Saigon College of Technology, after completing the admission procedures at the school.

"Spin" to choose the right school

Tuyet Trinh said she was admitted to her third choice of information technology major at a university in Ho Chi Minh City, but that was not her favorite major.

"Before making my choice, I carefully researched each profession. However, when I received the acceptance notice, I felt that it was not suitable for me. I am an extroverted person, I like to experience and communicate a lot. It was my family who supported me in changing my decision at the last minute" - Trinh said with a smile.

After receiving the university entrance exam scores, many candidates came to submit their applications directly to Saigon College of Technology.

Similarly, Bui Thi Huyen Trang (living in Dong Nai province) said that her high school graduation exam score was 22.95 points, enough to pass the university entrance exam, but in the end she "decided" to study Chinese language at Bach Viet Polytechnic College in Ho Chi Minh City.

"When I registered my wishes, I also decided to choose to study at a college, because the cost of studying at a college is "more affordable" than at a university. Although it is a bit regretful, but if I carefully consider many conditions such as tuition fees, travel distance, living expenses, graduation time, training program... then I feel this is the right choice" - Trang expressed.

Trang also received the school's "Wings" scholarship, which exempted 50% of tuition fees for 3 semesters for the first year. "Including uniform fees and English textbook fees, I only had to pay about 5 million VND for the first semester," Trang said.

Many positive signals for colleges

On the afternoon of August 27, Master Vu Van Dong, Head of the Faculty of Technology - Engineering, Bach Viet Polytechnic College, said that many candidates with high high school graduation exam scores (over 20 points) and admitted to university still chose to study at college. The biggest advantage that makes college attract candidates is the short training program (about 2-2.5 years), of which up to 70% of the time is spent on practice.

According to MSc. Nguyen Van Minh Tien, Vice Principal of Saigon Polytechnic College, since the university admission benchmarks were announced, the school has received about 200 candidates who applied directly to the school. In addition, a number of students who were admitted through the Ministry of Education and Training's general admission portal have confirmed their enrollment at the school.

Candidates register for admission at Saigon Polytechnic College

MSc. Nguyen Hoang Tien, Vice Principal of Saigon College of Technology, said that right after the university entrance exam scores were announced, the number of candidates registering for admission to the school also increased significantly. "Currently, the school has received about 400 out of a total of 550 applicants. Although the enrollment plan is extended until October 2025, if the number of students registering increases, the school will complete enrollment earlier," MSc. Tien informed.

At Ly Tu Trong College in Ho Chi Minh City, about 150 new students have enrolled in recent days.
