Hanoi University of Science and Technology admits 'mistake' when pasting logo over foreign robot

Hanoi University of Science and Technology has just responded to the incident of pasting the school logo over a foreign robot displayed at an exhibition, causing a stir in public opinion in recent days.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Dang Chinh, Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the robot is displayed in the area introducing learning, practice and research and development conditions for lecturers and students. This area has the participation of many different agencies and training units.

In the long-term exhibition conditions, the number of visitors is too large, many units mark the exhibits for management and preservation. Therefore, the exhibition department of Hanoi University of Science and Technology uses paper stamps with the school's logo to stick on all exhibits, including the biped robot, for management and preservation. At that time, there was an error in sticking the paper stamp on the biped robot at the position of the product's logo.

"Although there is a leaflet introducing the robot's features at the exhibition area, the use of a paper stamp with the logo of Hanoi University of Science and Technology to mark for preservation has caused some visitors to misunderstand, which is regrettable," Mr. Chinh informed.

According to Hanoi University of Science and Technology, using the school's logo stamp to mark the preservation of foreign robots at the exhibition was a mistake, causing some unfortunate misunderstandings.

Upon receiving the feedback, the school's leadership immediately directed, reviewed, and requested relevant individuals and departments to seriously explain the feedback.

Representatives of the research team and related departments have properly performed their accountability responsibilities and provided full information when requested. The leaders of Hanoi University of Science and Technology have severely criticized the related departments for the above negligence. Hanoi University of Science and Technology has also reported to the competent authorities.

"The school sincerely thanks readers for their interest and comments and will seriously absorb and learn from their experiences for similar events," said Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Dang Chinh.

Also according to Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the bipedal robot has a mechanical part legally imported from the Precision Mechanical Engineering Research Joint Stock Company, abbreviated as RPMEC, a business system under Hanoi University of Science and Technology for the purpose of development, training, research and transfer.

On that basis, the research group led by university lecturers has developed new control algorithms, giving robots new features, with specific results such as: Improving stability when moving on complex terrain; increasing the ability to adapt to changing heights; developing algorithms to help robots climb curved stairs.

In training, the research team has built software and professional documents to help lecturers and students directly program, integrate AI and control motion. Information about bipedal robots was introduced at the exhibition area.

Previously, public opinion was abuzz with information that Hanoi University of Science and Technology displayed a bipedal robot of unknown origin at the Ministry of Education and Training 's booth within the framework of the National Achievement Exhibition "80 Years of Independence - Freedom - Happiness Journey", held last September.

Specifically, the bipedal robot model displayed by Hanoi University of Science and Technology is said to have completely covered the logo and label of the foreign manufacturer, replacing it with the logo of Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Many opinions say that pasting such a logo will cause confusion about the origin of the product.
