The Current Events and Art Photo Exhibition "Fatherland - 80 Autumns of Independence" was selected from 5,032 photo works sent from all over the country (including 568 photo sets and 4,464 single photos), comprehensively reflecting the flow of history and the breath of life in Vietnam over the past eight decades.
From that rich source of works, the Organizing Committee has selected 200 most typical works to display, representing three important historical and artistic periods: "Unforgettable Years" - depicting memories of war, the indomitable spirit of the nation in the struggle for independence; "The Country Full of Joy" - recreating the atmosphere of solidarity and joy in the period of unification, construction and development; "Integration and Development" - reflecting a dynamic, creative and confident Vietnam in the period of innovation and international integration.

"Fatherland - 80 Autumns of Independence" is an activity in a series of events celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day, not only an exhibition, but also a call - a journey to find the source of emotions, depicting a visual epic about Vietnam. The exhibition is a vivid proof of the companionship of photography with the country and the strong development of Vietnamese photography in the new era.
Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, NSNA Tran Thi Thu Dong - President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists emphasized: "The exhibition is not only a place to admire art, but also a journey of proud memories, reminding today's generation of the unparalleled value of Peace , Independence and Freedom. Each work is a visual epic about the Fatherland of Vietnam."

In the program, the Organizing Committee introduced a number of typical works associated with important historical moments of the nation: Work: "Rally to celebrate the complete liberation of the South at August Revolution Square, May 1, 1975" by Artist Nguyen Huu Nen ( Hanoi ) - a valuable documentary work recording the joy of the country's reunification; Work: "The Reunification Train - Connecting the North and South" by Artist Tran Uong Son (Hanoi) - a vivid symbol of the country's reunification, warmly welcomed by the people of Ho Chi Minh City on January 4, 1977.
Sharing at the opening ceremony, Historian Duong Trung Quoc, General Secretary of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, Editor-in-Chief of the Past & Present Magazine affirmed: "Photography is the technology of time - preserving moments forever. Each photo is a historical witness, contributing to proving and spreading the value of national memory."

The exhibition is an opportunity to honor the contributions of generations of Vietnamese photographers - those who "record history with images", regardless of hardships and dangers to preserve authentic and touching moments of national history; at the same time, it also arouses the pride, dedication, passion and commitment of photographers in the new era.
The works in the exhibition "Fatherland - 80 Autumns of Independence" will continue to inspire, arouse patriotism, pride and aspiration to contribute in every Vietnamese person today.
The Current Events and Art Photo Exhibition "Fatherland - 80 Autumns of Independence" will take place from October 15 to October 19 at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, Hanoi.
