Dam Vac is a natural lake with a water surface area of more than 48 square kilometers, the deepest area is about 4.5 meters. The lake was formed from the bulge of the Canh River, with 23 main branches spreading throughout Vinh Yen and Vinh Phuc wards, creating a diverse ecosystem and a rare green space.

Dam Vac plays an important role in regulating the climate and reducing flooding in Vinh Yen and Vinh Phuc wards.

The name Dam Vac comes from the fact that the lake has many species of birds living there such as storks, teals, pelicans, herons... the most numerous of which are herons. Therefore, the locals call this large lake Dam Vac.

Dam Vac has a rich and diverse source of aquatic products such as shrimp, crab, fish, prawn... Among them, oil shrimp (available from August to October every year) is considered a typical product of Dam Vac. The mature shrimp are as big as a finger, have a full belly, and the eggs after processing have a fragrant, fatty, and unique flavor.

Dam Vac is considered a “green pearl” because the water in the lagoon is clear all year round. In addition to providing a rich and abundant source of products, the lagoon plays an important role in regulating the climate, reducing flooding, providing irrigation water and domestic water for thousands of households in Vinh Yen ward, Vinh Phuc ward and neighboring localities.
