By 9:00 p.m. the same day, authorities had safely brought a total of 25 people camping overnight on Co Tien Mountain down the mountain.

Vinh Hoa Ward People's Committee has set up checkpoints in residential areas; sent forces to check households at the foot of the mountain to have an evacuation plan in case the fire spreads near residential areas.

Earlier, at around 4:40 p.m. the same day, a fire broke out in the area of Co Tien Mountain. Initially, the fire was just reeds and ground cover, burning in a long streak and then spreading due to strong winds. The area where the fire broke out is in the planning area of production forest land.

Authorities quickly arrived at the scene to find a way to contain and extinguish the fire.

However, due to the location of the fire on the top of the mountain, the terrain is complex and steep, so the forces at the scene have not been able to reach it. Currently, the working group is monitoring the fire's progress and discussing firefighting plans (the forces are expected to split into two directions to create a boundary to prevent the fire from spreading).

The Fire Police and Rescue Force dispatched two fire trucks to the scene.

The weather in Nha Trang City is currently not raining but the wind is blowing strongly. Therefore, the fire is spreading to the East where people live.

Mr. Tran Van Dong - Secretary of Vinh Hoa ward - said that the locality's top priority is people's lives, so plans have been prepared to prevent the fire from spreading to residential areas.
