According to the 2024 Hurun Global Rich List by the Shanghai-based Hurun Institute of China, Vietnam's richest man, Pham Nhat Vuong, and other Vietnamese billionaires have all moved up in the list.
Hurun's list of the richest billionaires includes Vietnamese billionaires, but it is also different from Forbes' list of billionaires.
Specifically: Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vingroup Corporation, ranked 678 with 4.8 billion USD; Mr. Ho Hung Anh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank), ranked 1,787 with 2 billion USD; Mr. Tran Dinh Long, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hoa Phat Group, ranked 1,855 with 1.9 billion USD.
Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company, ranked 2,038th with 1.7 billion USD; Mr. Tran Ba Duong, Chairman of Truong Hai Auto, ranked 2,573rd with 1.3 billion USD. Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang, Chairman of Masan Group, is on the Forbes list with assets of 1.1 billion USD, but is not on the Hurun list.
In terms of ranking changes compared to last year's Hurun report, Vietnamese billionaires all increased.
Topping the Hurun Global Rich List 2024 is still billionaire Elon Musk, owner of social network X, Tesla and SpaceX, with a fortune of 231 billion USD. Next is Jeff Bezos, owner of Amazon Corporation, with 185 billion USD. Currently, the world has 3,279 billionaires, an increase of 5% compared to last year.
Hurun's statistics are different from those of Forbes - the leading prestigious business and financial magazine in the US. Hurun said its research method is to analyze asset value based on the value of shares owned on the stock exchange, as of January 15. For unlisted companies, asset value is calculated based on comparison with similar listed companies.
