The trial will last three days, with Alves set to begin his trial at 10 a.m. on February 5, Madrid time. Prosecutors have asked for a nine-year prison sentence, and want Alves to pay 150,000 euros (more than $163,000) in damages to the victim and be banned from contacting her for 10 years. They also propose to continue monitoring the Brazilian defender for a year after he completes his sentence. Under Spanish law, if convicted, Alves will also be banned from working with minors for 10 years after his release from prison.

The complainant's testimony, along with Alves', was one of the most important on the first day of the trial. The Brazilian defender has the right to not be cross-examined, or to answer only questions of his choosing. Six other witnesses are expected to appear in court today.

On February 7, the final day of the trial, the evidence and reports collected over the past year will be analyzed. Then, after the final defenses of the parties, the Public Prosecutor's Office will make its final request and the Court will pronounce its sentence. While awaiting the verdict, Alves will return to Brians 2 prison.
