On the morning of July 5, in Ho Chi Minh City, there was a meeting to launch the book " House Rules - From Roots to Wind" with Dr. Nguyen Hong Phuong.

Family, with love and strong traditional values, is the root that nurtured Nguyen Hong Phuong on her journey to adulthood. Nep Nha is her first book, like a journey to extend the things that have been sown in her heart with the desire to spread connection, awareness and love to every family in every era.

Home is the heart of the family

Family Tradition - From Root to Wind does not try to be confined to a perfect family model. Each story and lesson will be a pause that makes us pause in the midst of a hurried life and have a dialogue with ourselves, to create meaningful and strong connections with family members, regardless of generation.

Throughout the 10 chapters of the book, the author sends an "invitation to practice" to evoke awareness, create inspiration, encourage understanding and promote positive action in readers.

The three parts of the book provide readers with a practical roadmap to help us re-establish connections in our families.

If part 1 - Family tradition - family roots is a return to the fundamental values ​​that have permeated through every meal, voice, and look of family members, part 2 opens up a view of how generations continue each other not only by bloodline, but also through family tradition and these values ​​are constantly intertwined and developed.

In the final part - Family heritage: connecting, reaching out and embellishing affirms that the family tradition, once properly preserved and developed, will become a priceless spiritual heritage.

For author Nguyen Hong Phuong, "household traditions are not only legacies from the past but also living, breathing values ​​in the present life of each of us.

It is the soul and heart of the family, built from simple moments, sincere love and diligent sweat, and over time, imbued with profound, indelible meanings.

Not all homes are worth keeping.

However, according to Nguyen Hong Phuong, we also need to frankly admit that not every house has positive values.

"There are good habits that we need to continue to preserve and promote, but there are also things that are no longer suitable for the times and we need to courageously change, so that the family can develop in a better way.

For example, the previous generation had the notion that "children are not allowed to speak when adults are talking".

But nowadays, encouraging children to freely express their opinions in a proper manner is extremely important to help them develop independent thinking, confidence, and communication skills," Ms. Phuong analyzed.

According to her, each family member needs to observe to understand, select, change and transform so that the family tradition becomes a good heritage.

For example, in teaching and educating children, instead of "spare the rod and punish", parents can change the way they handle their emotions when their children make mistakes.

"Have a calm conversation and gentle guidance to help children understand the problem rather than being afraid of punishment. I have realized that: Teaching children is not about finding ways to make them afraid of you, but a journey for both sides to understand each other better," said Ms. Phuong.

After receiving a PhD in Information Technology in France in 1998, Nguyen Hong Phuong returned to Vietnam and spent more than 25 years in education in many roles from lecturer, manager to training director at educational institutions such as: Hoa Sen University,FPT University, FSB Institute of Management & Technology.

Currently, she holds the role of Chief Well-being Officer (CWO) at FPT Education.
