Proposal to prosecute Mr. Tran Qui Thanh and his three sons

The Investigation Police Agency (C01) of the Ministry of Public Security has just completed its investigation conclusion, proposing to prosecute Mr. Tran Qui Thanh, Chairman of Tan Hiep Phat Group , and his two daughters, Tran Uyen Phuong and Tran Ngoc Bich, for the crime of abuse of trust to appropriate property.

According to the investigation, Ms. Dang Thi Kim Oanh is the chairwoman of Kim Oanh Dong Nai Company and Thuan Loi Company. Ms. Oanh bought two projects: Minh Thanh Dong Nai and Nhon Thanh Dong Nai.

In 2019, due to difficulties, Ms. Oanh met Mr. Thanh to borrow 500 billion VND but was required to make a contract to transfer the above 2 projects and when the money was paid, it would be refunded.

Ms. Oanh's group then completed the procedures to transfer the assets to Tran Uyen Phuong and Tran Ngoc Bich under the direction of Mr. Tran Qui Thanh.

In 2020, Ms. Oanh asked to get the projects back, but Mr. Thanh did not agree, so Ms. Oanh filed a complaint.

C01 said that Mr. Thanh took advantage of the loan to appropriate the above two projects, causing a loss of 500 billion VND to Ms. Dang Thi Kim Oanh.

In addition, Mr. Thanh also appropriated 35 plots of land from 3 other individuals, causing them a total loss of about 380 billion VND.

According to the investigation conclusion, Mr. Thanh did not admit guilt, but the investigation agency had sufficient grounds to determine that this defendant had committed acts of abuse of trust to appropriate property.

In addition, C01 also recognized that Mr. Thanh has many contributions to society, creating jobs for thousands of workers... therefore, it requested a sentence for this defendant.
