In 2025, the total number of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam will be 1,165,289; an increase of 93,894 registrations compared to last year (in 2024, the total number of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam will be 1,071,395).
Of which, the number of candidates taking the exam under the 2018 General Education Program is 1,138,579, accounting for 97.71% of the total number of candidates registered for the exam. The number of candidates taking the exam under the 2006 General Education Program is 26,711, accounting for 2.29% of the total number of candidates registered for the exam.
The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place on June 26 and 27; on June 25, candidates will complete exam registration procedures.
From 2025, candidates studying the 2018 General Education Program will take the high school graduation exam with 4 subjects: 2 compulsory subjects (Literature, Mathematics) and 2 elective subjects from grade 12 subjects (Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic & Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology). Candidates will take the exam in 3 sessions: 1 Literature session, 1 Math session, 1 session for 2 elective subjects. Literature is an essay test of 120 minutes (Reading 4 points, Writing 6 points); Math is a multiple choice test of 90 minutes; the remaining subjects are multiple choice of 50 minutes.
Candidates taking the 2006 General Education Program will participate in 4 exam sessions, including 1 Literature exam session, 1 Math exam session, 1 optional Natural Science or Social Science exam session, and 1 Foreign Language exam session.
