Proposing over 241 billion VND to invest in infrastructure to support cooperatives in developing raw material areas for planted forest wood

Today, September 23, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Tri province sent a document to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; Department of Cooperative Economics and Rural Development; Agricultural Project Management Board proposing to supplement the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2026-2030 to implement the Project on infrastructure investment to support cooperatives in developing raw material areas for planted forest timber in Quang Tri province with a total investment of 241,275 billion VND.

Of which, support for investment in infrastructure of forestry roads connecting raw material areas with a total estimated length of 87.71 km, costing 219.275 billion VND; support for investment in items and models related to the raw material area project of 22 billion VND. Investment capital is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The proposed items include items serving the raw material areas (including: Support for infrastructure and machinery and equipment for cooperatives with sufficient capacity and demand to participate in exploitation, thinning, transportation, preliminary processing, FSC-CoC certification services; conveyor systems and sawmills according to standards) and unique forestry routes serving the transportation of planted forest timber, materials for planting and caring for forests for the wood raw material areas of the districts.

The invested and built forestry routes will contribute to increasing the value of wood products by 1.5 times the current value by minimizing the costs of transportation, travel, care, plant management and forest fire prevention and fighting.

The road system, after receiving investment support, will connect raw material production areas with factories purchasing and processing forest wood products, reducing production costs, improving efficiency, and helping to alleviate poverty for people in the project area, especially ethnic minorities.
